AN Green DL 38 and National Rail livered DL 42 power through Wallerawang station with an interstate container freight. Both DL bodies have been scratchbuilt.
The Goods Shed appears to be all locked up despite the wheelbarrow and sacks sitting out the front. A lone open wagon loaded with containers sits in the Up relief road.
At the Sydney end of the station are two weatherboard buildings, both scratchbuilt from styrene and corrugated iron sheeting with brick sheet for the chimneys and Grandtline doors and windows. The water column is from AR Kits, the station name sign is from Uneek, and the white fence is scratchbuilt from styrene strip.
Bicentennial liveried 80 class idles in the Goods Road with a collection of rail wagons from a ballast train. The 80 class loco is a Bergs kit, the brake van is from Trainorama, the ballast hopper is from AR Kits, and the plough van is a Hanovale kit.
The photographer at the goods shed snaps a trailing shot of NR25 hauling an Up container service through Wallerawang. The NR is from Austrains and the containers are from Auscision Models, loaded on container flats from AR Kits.
One down, one to go. The crane on the PTC truck will soon be busy unloading the next batch of sleepers. Both WSC sleeper carriers were scratchbuilt from styrene.
4303, with 4814 behind, charge through Wallerawang station with a load of perishables bound for the Sydney markets.
8215 and 8216 slowly navigate the trackwork in Wallerawang yard as they lead a long loaded coal train off the Mudgee branch and onto the Up main.
4429 is making good time as it hauls a mixed goods train of loaded 4-wheel wagons and wheat hoppers through Wallerawang station.

Rail motor CPH 25 and it's accompanying trailer take a well earned rest in the Down Loop, lazing in the shadow of the Wallerawang East Signal Box.
8216, C504 and 8215 traverse the crossover from the Mudgee line onto the Up Main adjacent to Wang West Box. All three locos are scratchbuilt from styrene and run on Athearn chassis'.
Wallerawang has seen a surge in motor traffic of late. Here a restored FJ40 LandCruiser heads through town from Piper's Flat Road as a Nissan Primera waits to turn right. In the background a more modern LandCruiser is heading home from a day of water-based activities at the nearby Lake Wallace.
A string of 4-wheel wagons, destined for various goods yards around metropolitan Sydney, head out of Wallerawang Junction behind 4303.
A wet wintery day sees railmotor set 623/723 standing at the dock road platform, waiting for the Orange day train which is yet to arrive. The railmotor set is from Eureka Models and has been personally weathered.
Bicentennial liveried 8040 leads 4512 and 4902, both in candy colours, as they power up on a stopped Down empty wheatie. All locos have been hand painted, the 80 and the 49 being Bergs whitemetal kits, and the 45 class is from AR Kits.
The photographer has raced around to capture the same long empty wheat train as it continues at a crawl under the road bridge. The bridge was scratchbuilt from timber and styrene based on drawings obtained from the NSW railways and photographs taken of the prototype.
Nearing the end of it's life and now relegated to Departmental duties, 3644 lifts a ballast train through Wallerawang. The 36 class is a DJH kit and the BBW ballast wagons are from AR Kits.
NR52 in indigenous livery leads NR25 in the new Indian Pacific livery as they combine to haul the prestigious Indian Pacific through Wallerawang just a couple of hours into its 3 day journey to Perth. NR52 is a handpainted scratchbuilt loco and NR25 is from Austrains.
Restored heritage loco 1210 idles in the platform after bringing in a tour train from Mudgee. The water gin behind the loco has provided extra water for the loco needed during the trip out and is being hauled back empty. The wooden bodied FO passenger carriages are from Camco, the water gin is a Silvermaz kit and the 12 class is a DJH kit.

4814 and 4899 combine to haul an Up goods under the timber roadbridge and into Wallerawang. The 48s are Powerline models with 4814 powered by a K&M mechanism and 4899 being a dummy. The louvre van is from On Track Models.
Wallerawang on display at the Liverpool exhibition in October 2011. The only chance to capture a full-length front view of the layout was during a quiet period late in the afternoon.
3830 rolls to a halt in the Up platform at Wallerawang with the Sydney-bound Central West Express. The 38 class locomotive is a DJH kit, and the passenger cars are Casula Hobbies RUB set cars. The locomotive and passenger cars have all have been assembled and painted by Doug Wonson.
An old but well kept Bedford truck has parked next the 5-ton yard crane. After the driver has a yarn with the staff in the adjacent goods shed the timber crate will be unloaded off the back of the truck onto the goods shed platform. The Bedford is a Weico models white-metal kit, and the crane is a Peter Boorman's Workshop kit.
3644 leads the Down Central West Express out of Wallerawang. The 36 class locomotive is a DJH kit and the passenger cars are a 5-car HUB set from Eureka Models.
A couple of S trucks sit at the Wallerawang goods shed waiting for the next pick-up train. The goods shed was scratchbuilt from scale lumber and corrugated iron and is based on railway plans and site measurements. The S trucks are detailed Austrains models, one with a tarpaulin made from tissue paper and the other with an old LCL container that has been freshly repainted.
A 2-car diesel set by Eureka Models rattles through the points as it comes off the Mudgee branch and into Wallerawang. The train is passing the backyards of the houses that front Pipers Flat Rd.
A RailCorp fettlers truck and crew near the fettlers shed on the per-way siding at Wallerawang. The truck is a modified Herpa model and the fettlers shed was scratchbuilt from styrene. Uneek detailing parts have been spread around to represent the debris that tends to accumulate around these sorts of railway facilities.
Austrac-owned 4814 sits in the Up platform at Wallerawang at the head of a ballast train. The 48 class loco is a re-motored Powerline model handpainted and decalled into Austrac colours by Doug Wonson. The ballast wagons are from AR Kits.
Local houses on Pipers Flat Rd back onto the Mudgee branchline on the outskirts of town. The houses, fences, clothesline, garage, trees, and power poles have all been scratchbuilt to suit the location. Fences were made using strip NorthEastern lumber and AR Kits corrugated iron. Power poles are timber dowel with Atlas crossarms glued near the top and painted to suit.
Time for smoko. The factory hand at the VES workshop has just parked the forklift out of the way and is calling out to his workmates. The forklift is a Wiking model and the pallets were built from scratch.
4911 and 4916 idle at Wallerawang station, waiting for the road to take the Western Mail back to Sydney. 4911 is a Bergs white metal kit and 4916 is a brass model.
A man heads across the footbridge to the main street of Wallerawang as a container train rattles and clanks through the platform. The footbridge is made from a combination of three bridge kits and scratchbuilt components.
In Freight Rail blue livery, 8212 and 8226 slowly bring their loaded coal train off the Mudgee Branch and onto the Up Main. The branch joins the mainline at the western end of the town. Both 82 class locos are Berg's kits with an Athearn chassis. The goods shed was scratchbuilt from plans and photos.
4471 in reverse tuscan livery and 4911 rumble through Wallerawang's Up platform with a ballast train. The 44 is a repainted Trainorama model and the 49 is a Berg's white metal kit.
Easing the Mudgee Mail off the branch line, 3644 passes the goods shed as the driver readies the train for stopping at Wallerawang's Up platform. Passengers heading west will detrain here for a connecting service.
V/Line G class diesel G523 has the honours of hauling one of the very last trains on Wallerawang at an exhibition. It is seen here on the head of a Down container freight.
